Who Brought Amma Therapy to the West?
Amma Therapy© is a system of wellness that incorporates Amma Massage, detoxification methods, dietary plans, and the intelligent use of herbal, vitamin and supplementary preparations. This method of oriental massage balances the energetic systems of the body. Amma Massage was brought to the U.S. by Tina Sohn from Korea where it has been passed down through her family for generations. After an injury that would have resulted in the amputation of one leg, Tina’s grandmother took her from the hospital, and over a period of time healed her through the use of Amma massage and herbal remedies. Tina Sohn has given us the gift of systemizing this ancient, intuitive healing technique so that it can be utilized here in the West.
What Happens During an Amma Massage?
An Amma Massage begins with the client lying on the table on his/her back fully clothed. The therapist starts at the head, using small, circular strokes that move the energy through the channels, down the body to the feet. Specific points may be pressed for 12 to 15 seconds to further enhance the energy flow. This massage takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete, and is very relaxing.

Helps Maintain Good Health
Perhaps the most effective use for Amma Oriental Massage is as a preventative measure. Amma Massage can be a powerful modality for maintaining health and wellness, as it balances the energy in the body’s internal system. Receiving an Amma Massage once or twice a month is like giving your body a complete tune up.
